OUTCOMES

Handbook for Mothers

MOTHERCARE project generally aims to provide accessible, sustainable and scientific support mechanisms for mothers in postpartum period in terms of both their own psychological health and also their attitude towards the babies, pedagogical sense of care. In this sense, we can summarize the objectives of WP1 as follows: 1.1. To put forward the literature review and field studies on this subject in order to make the foundations of the project laid on a scientific base (rel. to the O1). This will guide for the preparation of a handbook for mothers and also the revision of the project modules. 1.2. To guide the mothers about postpartum period through The Handbook for the Mothers, referring i) what they experience / face with (embodying their problems) ; ii) how they tackle with the issues they face ; iii) how the babies should be approached in a healthy pedagogic perspective in this period. (rel to the O2-O3) 1.3. To increase the awareness about the importance of psychological health and pedagogical trainings for mothers in postpartum period (rel. to the O4-O5)

Onscreen Support Board

Although prenatal health care is universally covered by health insurance and nationally tracked in many countries, postpartum health care is largely neglected. The WHO guidelines recommend that if the mother and baby are discharged from hospital sooner than 48 hr after birth, a qualified professional should assess them within 24–48 hr after discharge. However, majority of mothers are not seen by a health-care professional for weeks leaving her to cope during with minimal professional support during a crucial period of transition. In order to fill out this gap, MOTHERCARE project aims to develop online support systems which can be reachable by any mother from any location. In this respect, the main objective of this WP is to produce videos with the relevant mother-support content. This WP aims to record videos based on the handbook content produced in WP-1. It is important to note that the target group of our project has special needs; therefore the video content are needed to be special too. The main objective is to create an easy to access video based material which will serve as a useful guide on assisting disadvantaged mothers who have newborns and don’t know how to deal with many problems they face.

Mobile Application / Interactive Portal

In this internet age, the outcomes must also be provided in mobile applications to reach people more easily and to be accessible in a more efficient way. Mobile applications have been nothing but transformative in the way businesses operate. In 2020, approximately 3.5 billion people worldwide own a smartphone. Mobile apps currently present the most efficient, direct, and customizable way to deliver information about a product and encourage clients to remain loyal to a particular brand. Specifically, training modules and guideline that will be produced in previous results will be embedded in this mobile application. Therefore, users would easily follow up the necessary steps they need to take through the mobile application. All other outputs can also be reached through this application. In order to reach a more diverse target group in a quicker way our outcomes will be presented in a mobile application format in Android/IOS system. Mobile version of training material and interaction tools for mothers will support their psychological and pedagogically and more diverse numbers of beneficiaries will be able to reach the project’s output easily. When the mobile application actively began to be used, mothers will be able to access the project results very easily. From their smart phones they would be able to download the app. This would give us the potential to reach a greater audience. Beneficiaries from other sectors would also benefit from this application that can make the project outputs disseminate.
